Montecito Fires near Santa Barbara

More than 100 homes in the very prestigious Montecito community (Where Oprah, John Travolta, Kenny Loggins and Michael McDonald, among others, live) are on fire.
Rich or poor, white or black... this is a horrible situation no one should have to go through.

The winds are the firefighter's biggest enemy:

NASA depicts how the fire looks from space:

More horrible winds:

This is a very interesting view from above:

Meanwhile, the firemen continue to work very hard putting out the fires:

Saw this on the news last night. Amazing how many houses were instantly in flames. You'd think that they would build those roofs out of steel or something but it seems like some of the houses were caught on fire from the bottom of the outside walls.

I wish to god we would catch these freak ass arsonists. Most of the fires here are arson disbelief

I stay Woke.

Almost every wildfire we have here is arson. Don't have confirmation on it but the odds are totally that it's arson. Fuckers.

Rob Lowe: Entire mountain around his Montecito home was on fire

at 16:13 on November 14, 2008, EDT.
By THE ASSOCIATED PRESS

MONTECITO, Calif. - Rob Lowe says he and his children fled a wildfire raging in California with just minutes to spare.

The 44-year-old actor said Friday in a telephone interview with local station KABC-TV that the entire mountain around his Montecito home was on fire and flames were shooting 60 metres in the air.

The actor says his home was ultimately spared, but as they left, the wind was blowing at 110 kilometres an hour and "it was just like Armageddon."

Lowe says he was watching football with his son Thursday night when his wife called to alert him. He says they didn't see any fire engines or police as they fled.

Well don't live in the woods! If you live in the city no way there'd ever be fires like this unless Rodney King gets up to his bullshit again wink

Ya, that's what he said. They couldn't even get their scheduled car to pick them up, they had to hitch a ride with another artist, a very cool artist, but still a bit of a pain.

Does anyone know if Perris is near the fires? I have a close friend there and have been unable to reach him. Prayers for everyone there ~ such a tragedy.

Lake Perris, California?

Just looked it up (how sad is it that I don't even know myself where he is).

So he's playing a club called Proof tonight, then LAX in Hollywood tomorrow night. And then somewhere else later in the week.

Great photos
