Well...Hispanics are not homogenous, and just like we have different races and ethnic backgrounds we also have different political affiliations.

ALOT of Hispanics are Republican. What's shocking to me is that Daddy Yankee - an urban artist - is one of them. But I guess you can't stereotype that just because you rap you vote Republican, eh? OH-! This is for you Krystal; Can someone please explain to me why that is considering how vocal Republicans are about immigrants? I just don't understand that. | |

I just don't understand that. I'm just playing devil's advocate here, so don't jump down my throat; but Republicans are necessarily anti-immigration...they're anti-ILLEGAL-immigration. There are people - such as my parents - who applied for a visa and waited for the U.S. Embassy to approve their entry into the Unites States, and went through all the red tape to first get their residency & then their citizenship. Then there are people who cannot, or will not, go through those channels and either get in with a tourist's visa then never leave, or make the trek through Mexico and cross the Rio Grande. Many Cubans, for example, are notoriously conservative since they came from affluent families that fled Fidel's socialist upheaval. No one is trying to kick them out because of the special legal status that they enjoy. Also - you may not remember or know this - but there was a time when most of Latin America was in the midst of social unrest with the Soviet Union trying to help spread Communism through the Americas. The CIA countered with (questionable) helping of right-wing governments to stay in power. Republicans represent - in the minds of many - that right-wing aid that helped them avoid the clutches of Communism. Am I rambling now???
