The Old Man

The old man walks among the streets.
pacing so slowly, staring down at his feet.
he's had quite a life, has this old man.
but he knows his time is at an end.

Tired of watching the days go by.
Sick of looking at the same old sights.
Bored with flying the morning kite
and ready to go onto the after life.

So many sunsets has the old man seen.
All of his senses are no longer keen.
Gone is the young heart that used to beat.
Replaced with a man who has faced defeat.

Now he walks in this world alone.
Loneliness filling him down to the bone.
Looking at his wrinkled hands so cold.
Wondering how did he get so old.

Laying down in his bed once again.
It seems this night has come to it's end.
Now it's time to say good night.
Until the morning when he walks into the light.
