My Black Skin

And then they wonder why we mad

And then they wonder why we act up

And then they wonder why we can't overcome
We seem to be stuck

My black skin holds me back
My black skin keeps me intact
My black skin frightens others
My black skin induces strength to one another

And then we wonder why our youth is aloof

And then we wonder why we are looked as the stupid spoof

We became what we fought to overcome

To today, disrespected and not looked upon

inspired by something that happened today at my job....which made me question myself..and others.

I just have one of these for you...

Sometimes the skin just amplifies the differences, other times it shows that under it, we are all the same.

Ignorance is a result of being poor most of the time and skin color knows no difference when you have nothing. Then a person passes that "poor" mentality down to their kids and a cycle is born. Black or White, that shit just ain't right. Preach education so we as humans can rise above the ignorance and treat each other with respect.

"People used to attack me and say it was a conflict of interest: I was the manager, I was the record company, I was the publisher, and I would say, Yes, of course, conflict of interest, but it’s in their favor, you stupid fuck." - Berry Gordy

PaisleyPark4, nobody should have to feel that way....I'm sorry you felt
the brunt of that....there has to be a time when we all feel equal....I
feel like it's close, but maybe not close enough....one day, one day.

It doesn't matter
what did or did not happen then.
It only matters what happens now.

It's a shame any human has to go through something like this.

I'm convinced of this,
When you perceive that someone hates you, based on your skin color...
that's rarely the case.
They simply don't love themselves.
It's not U.
Because if you love yourself, you don't project that kind of hate.

I recently viewed a program that focused on a family of little people.
In one scene we see the family attend a little people's convention.
Outside in the street, they are taunted for their size.
We get to hear the taunts.
We get to see this family's faces.
As I'm watching this I'm thinking,"those are some strong children".

And one of the kids explains it this way.."My parents and myself, aren't going to magically grow.So I don't focus on what they say".

You're never wrong for something you can't change.

I often wonder what this world would be like if we were all the same color.
