Something that may need to be heard... I for one, have grown tired of all the subjective, and biased opinions that dominate this website, and the topics therein. Every time I visit "the org" I am overcome with negative energy, topics that are irrelevent, orgers who bash, lack respect and/or maturity, and a multitude of other elements, that have resulted in my despising of this website. I joined this website, because I had intentions of learning, and discussing subjects/topics about a musical artist, that has been a major impact in my life...Prince. I didn't join this website to hear a whole bunch of disgruntled and discontented "fans" enforce their personal views, and or beliefs. I'm not saying I don't want to hear others opinions, because I do. The problem occurs when people act as if their opinions are FACT, and aren't respectable to others. Many a time have I become discouraged from stating my opinion, simply because of the fact that no one would respect it, or consider it's relevance. It seems unfair, but I've learned to realize that the majority of the people on this website don't care. And never will. I'm not trying to call anyone out, or offend anyone, because this isn't directed towards any one person. This is directed towards an attitude, that I see rather prevalent throughout the various posts, and responses. Don't get me wrong, there are plenty of people who are respectable, and considerate to others ideas...but they are constantly being over shadowed by some form of negative energy, biased opinions, and a type of pungent irrelevance. Every time I visit this website, I just get let down, constantly. I'm not asking people to agree with me, they don't have to. This is my personal opinion, and I'm not trying to enforce it upon anyone, I simply want to be heard,as in comprehended, and I want to know if anyone feels the same...antagonism I feel. After all, you don't need to agree with everything Prince says, has said, does, or did, to be a fan. You don't even have to like his music, that's your opinion. But to be a fan, the only thing you really got to do is...understand.

Ashrua... while I feel the same way you do, it is important to remember, that this is also a place where we can convey our feelings, as you have conveyed yours. I like to read some of the whining also, it makes me appreciate the fact that I don't live near those people and this 2, shall pass.

It is frustrating to me too. I really enjoy reading threads about things/song/events that I did not know about. I don't have any negativity about Prince or his music either. I don't LOVE every song or video or movie, but there is so much material from him and there is so much that does touch me. But, I choose to just join conversations that I feel comfortable in. I am still here.

You lived in a country of islands where the people are taught to respect and honor others and are morally educated. There is definitely a difference between here and there, and with that said wouldn't it be wonderful if we could all respect one another. You are a young individual and can grow to teach others around you. ..make a difference.

Sophianestesia said Couldn't have said it better. Was I the only one who laughed when heard of 'Prince Fans United'? Seriously, WHAT THE FUCK? Wasn't PFU formed to publicise against Prince/his legal team from shutting this site and other like it down, or removing any mention of the man himself, which is in essence the same thing. I don't think it was formed to protest against his lack of videos. The PFU has my full support, Prince is a celebrity and should expect people to talk about him. Trying to take that away is wrong and goes against everything free speech stands for. [Edited 8/7/08 2:16am]

I appreciate all the advice, and the suggestions to ignore...certain actions. This is something I have done, and am capable of. But, I do like learning from all the different view points, which exist throughout this community. I like to see, why people feel the way they do...if they have a reason, or simply a personal feeling that would lead to their contributions, positive, or negative.

Welcome to a public forum. Your opinion is as valid as people lamenting not being able to watch video's. And, in a way, your thread is as negative as the ones you bemoan.

Just display your arrogance where more people will notice it, next time. Why is that arrogance? Arrogance means 'an attitude of superiority manifested in an overbearing manner or in presumptuous claims or assumptions' according to the Merriam-Webster's Online Dictionary... It's just different interests here on the org. You say you want to be understood, I understand that. But try also to understand others. I can say for my part, when I first started writing on the org, I was suprprised by the language which to me often seemed very direct and even rude. But I have learned that this is the internet, a global space for meeting all kinds of people with all kinds of different backgrounds, different realities. What may seem rude from where I come from, isn't necessarily rude where you come from. My biggest lesson from this is to not take things personally, and engage in topics and relations based on the assumption that people mean well (that is, is seeking the same happines and satisfaction as myself) despite any neagtive or frustrated or stupid or silly comment (I think) they may have. I get irritated by people throwing tantrums about not being able to watch Prince videos on youtube, or "experience" his music. It is HIS music, and his right to do with it, whatever he may please, at the cost of a fan, is of little significance, for the aware fan, would understand, the biased one, one of greed, would whine, and throw fit. Believe me, I would enjoy watching Prince videos on the internet, but if Prince doesn't want his music on youtube, then so be it. I'm not going to abondon him, for something so trivial as that. I'm not trying to preach, although some people will think that. Whatever. Anyone is entitled to feel whatever sentiments they may feel towards mine, and I am endowed equality on that matter, and with that being said... Thank you, for taking YOUR time to read MY thoughts, I appreciate it, truly. For they are thoughts, and only thoughts, NOT FACTS. If there was a standing ovation icon, I would use it for this post. It's one of the best I've read all year. I pretty much feel the same way you do. It's love of Prince and his music that keep me here. It's time for new direction, it's time for jazz 2 die

To my dismay, it was transported to the "site discussion" forum. I don't think the orgers predominantly visiting the "Prince: music and more" forum, would contemplate it, as much as the orgers on this forum have.
