This song definately has some metaphorical value. And I love it!

Really love this song. One of my top favorite on the album.

Absolutely fantastic, thought provoking lyrics, incredible music.

This song was the blueprint for cuts like "Something In The Water" and All The Critcs Love U", I feel. This was the first cut where P sounded like he was crazy as hell. I always liked it. I dug how I saw him on this tour and I bought a poster of him at this show of him on stage pointing a gun. He didn't perform the song the night I saw him though. Which was a drag. I wanted badly to see P perform this song cuz I was curious to see what it sounded like live. Plus I wanted to see him point a gun on stage like he did in the poster. His management thought P should pull the song from the set, and he did. What a double drag.

one of the first prince songs ever heard...and loved everything about it! remember writing the lyrics to this song on the chalk board of my highschool math class...and people were reading it wondering what it meant..of course until the teacher erased it saying it was nonsense..and demanding to know who the author was..lol..of course she never found out lol

love this song. even in his huge catalogue of diverse songs this
one still stands out among the few dozen really unique ones.

when i first heard it i didn't really know what to make of it so
i hardly ever listened to it but for the past 10 years it's been
an absolute treat whenever i listen to it.

Controversy

probably my least favorite from controversy, but an okay tune more or less .

Annie Christian is okay.

I quite like it.

I think the importance of this song is that its sort of Princes first experiment in psychedelic music put unto an album.

The 'coda' of When were dancing close and slow (on the Prince album) allready is slightly psychedelic sounding, but Annie Christian is his first song with an overall psychedelic / experimental vibe.

Later examples (Around the World in a day, Crystal Ball, Theres others here with Us) are more worked out / arranged, but Annie Christian is a first attempt to produce that type of material.

Avenging the Anti-Christ...was the only way. People can't think that the devil...and his anti-Christian posse...were'nt gonna have a fight on their hands. We are spirits in a physical world.

This song was one dart that helped destroy the liar. Thank You Prince.
