Prince had his change of faith, he said, after a two-year-long debate with a musician friend, Larry Graham. “I don’t see it really as a conversion,” he said. “More, you know, it’s a realization. It’s like Morpheus and Neo in ‘The Matrix.’ ”
Well I guess I finally got my answer! but.... When asked about his perspective on social issues—gay marriage, abortion—Prince tapped his Bible and said, “God came to earth and saw people sticking it wherever and doing it with whatever, and he just cleared it all out. He was, like, ‘Enough.
is this supposed to mean he has a problem with gay people? [Edited 11/17/08 0:52am]

What a trip. Really strange feeling article. Hummmm.....I wonder. well, if he is all LIKE THAT (insert) than ok. He never fails to surprise me. I liked the part about the girl on swing, and that she just wanted her to see him. OMG-- what would I do?

“There was this woman. She used to come to Paisley Park and just sit outside on the swings,” he said. “So I went out there one day and I was, like, ‘Hey, all my friends in there say you’re a stalker. And that I should call the police. But I don’t want to do that, so why don’t you tell me what you want to happen. Why are you here? How do you want this to end?’ And she didn’t really have an answer for that. In the end, all she wanted was to be seen, for me to look at her. And she left and didn’t come back.”

Is he trying to imply that Republicans are somehow better Christians than alleged godless Democrats? I guess Prince doesn't understand that Democrats tend to not legislate from the bible since there is a such thing as separation of church and state.

I really wish I hadn't read this. Actually, the past few Prince interviews I've read made me long for the days when Prince didn't talk to the media. I'm afraid soon he may even trump Sarah Palin for uncomfortable interviews. Remember in 1990 when Prince talked about a journalist wanting him explain his beliefs about God, to which Prince replied, "How can I answer that without sounding like a fool?" Perhaps P should reread that quote and take his own advice. What surprises me is the utter lack of conversation about music. I think it's safe to say that we'll probably never get a return-to-form, innovative album from Prince. - [Edited 11/17/08 4:41am] (and how gay does the decor sound...???) Was I what u wanted me 2 b?

Interesting that he would make (what I infer to be) a reference to Sodom and Gomorrah about God's attitudes on homosexuality, but that he still incorporates a fair amount of androgyny into his image (less than before, tis true, but still to a degree).

Oh, my. Neo and Morpheous. Terrifying. The implications don't even bear thinking about. Is this really where his head is at? Fucking Neo? I actually do think he meant it as a quite literal euphamism. I've heard every extremist liberal eventually becomes an extremist conservative, in this case a extremist conservative with fascist, dark age monothesitc belief belief-system delusion and an outrageous Messiah complex. Is this what happens when you go bald? It's alright Ma

i thought we were supposed to get wiser as we got older!. P, what happened?. This interview really is disturbing, can he be any more anti-gay than this?. Madonna needs to get round quick and kick the shit out of him!. Sometimes it really is better to shut up and stay private.

The man is a devout christian. Not only that, but he's a Jehovah's Witness. Explain to me where in the Bible it says that it's okay to be gay.

Get over it. Extended rant: He still preaches Love 4 One Another. That means that people he feels are sinner can still be redeemed. IN some weird way, he's doing it out of "love." You might not agree with how he feels sinners can be converted (for example, for gayness he asked Wendy to renounce her homosexuality and accept Jesus as her Lord as saviour before he'd spend time with her). I don't. However, I follow the Golden Rule and respect his choices in life just like I feel others should respect mine so long as they approach me with love in their hearts. I have no reason to believe Prince is anything like the people who have hate and contempt for sinners. I feel he approaches sinners with hope and love. Until I see otherwise, that's the benefit of the doubt I'm willing to give him (and anybody else, to be honest). I don't believe in sin or sinners. I think it's all quite daft. I also have little time for anyone who lives their lives trying to save other humans beings for a perceived grievence against a mad monster in some etherly dimentional strata without time or space. Is your God the God of Abraham? Or maybe (my personal favourite) your own personal definition of Yahweh? A fatherly, guiding voice in your head? Good luck with that. I know I can't change your mind. To me, you needlessly live under a dark cloud with your mind fuelled by ridiculous cement. In my opinion, of course. It's alright Ma

I think a lot of people want the raunchy nasty head prince back. I think he has grown up since then. I think he has put a lot of his past behind him. I think he finally realises that he was the one "sticking his thing where ever..." I'm not saying he was gay just saying he was with a lot of women over the years and maybe now he's realising that God doesn't approve of that at all.
Come on, get up, let's do somethin' ![]()

People get more conservative as they get older, so it's no surprise that Prince has done the same. As for the rest of it, you've got to remember that Prince went to public school, and never had a college level education. He's a bright guy who is interested in a lot of things, but you can't learn everything on the street. I would not be surprised if Prince enrolled in a University. When Prince was at his best, his lyrics were simple and universal to the point that he (and Sting) was the favorite artist of the college students I knew. Since he has tried to educate himself through the Witnesses and general experience, the lyrics are hard to relate to, and he comes off judgemental and ignorant.

Hmmm, I think what lot of people really want is the free spirit Prince back. LizaWoman08 said: I think he has grown up since then.
That's certainly one way of looking at it. I'm not sure I'd call it as much growing UP, as INWARDS.
